DJ/Producer Kungs just reached no. 1 in the French charts and no. 29 in the UK charts – with his re-working of ‘This Girl’
A little taster for you to listen to…
Featuring vocals by Australian songstress Kylie Auldist and backed by Melbourne 3-piece Cookin’ On 3 Burners it was originally out in 2009 ‘This Girl’ and repeatedly sells out each time it is repressed on 7” vinyl – this special version includes the instrumental and acapella.
Kungs’ remix of ‘This Girl’ has rocketed up the charts right across Europe, inc. the Official #1 in France, and #29 in the Official UK Top 30, is on the BBC Radio 1 and Capital FM Playlists and also reverberated around stadiums on David Guetta’s recent tour which featured Kungs as support.
Originally released in 2009, ‘This Girl’ went on to crossover massively on the contemporary Northern and Modern Soul scenes – becoming a favourite around the world; from Japanese funk clubs to The Southport Soul Weekender. The vinyl 45 began to change hands for serious money online, and each subsequent repress sold out quickly.
Freestyle have decided to re-release this classic track, coupled with the previously unheard instrumental and acapella versions, which may well bring even more people under the spell of this magical piece of music.
Freestyle will be releasing vocalist Kylie Auldist‘s ‘Family Tree’ album, produced by Lance Ferguson (The Bamboos / Black Feeling) and Graeme Pogson, which is a brilliant collection of boogie, disco & electro-funk inspired tracks that evoke the sound of late 70s & early 80s club classics.
